Camogie

9-time European Champions, our camogie team have truly set the standard in Europe over the last number of years. 2019 was a highly successful year for the team as they were crowned champions yet again in Dresden.

The Brussels camogie team have been extremely successful over the years in bringing newcomers into the fold and coaching them to a level that allows them to pull on the red jersey and compete for Belgium in the tournaments. We have a large panel of players, diverse in both skill level and nationality – yet the team has been consistently successful while introducing these new players to the great game of Camogie. Like all Craobh Rua teams, Camogie is inclusive, and new players are welcome at all times to come down and give it a try.

So what is Camogie?

Camogie is a traditional Irish team sport played by  around 100,000 women in Ireland and worldwide. The game is played with sticks (hurleys) and a ball (sliotar), and the aim is to outscore the opposition. A camogie player does this by striking the ball over the bar to score one point or under the bar, past the goalie and into the goal to score 3 points.
